Voltalia challenged BE to assess the integrated impact of all its projects on birds, bats, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, considering wind farms, solar parks, and associated infrastructures in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
We conducted a detailed analysis of the monitoring plans and their reports, identifying essential improvements for quantifying impacts. Based on our analysis, we developed an Integrated Wildlife Monitoring Plan aligned with local environmental regulations and international standards (International Finance Corporation).
Specific methods, such as carcass surveys, Collision Risk Model (CRM), and Population Viability Analysis (PVA), were implemented. We have been conducting monitoring for five years, analyzing the effects of exclusion and mortality on wildlife, and successfully assessing the impacts on local populations, contributing to more sustainable environmental management.
