Updating Noise Curves and Zoning Plans for Airports in Brazil

BE was tasked by CCR Aeroportos with updating Noise Curves and preparing Noise Zoning Plans for 16 of their airports operating in Brazil.

The project consisted of updating and validating noise contours and preparing Noise Zoning Plans for 16 airports under CCR Aeroportos. The objective was to analyse the compatibility of land use around the airports in relation to aircraft noise, compare current and future noise contours considering the current and maximum operational capacity of each airport, and ensure compliance with RBAC No. 161/2021 – Amendment 03 and the Airport Master Plans.

We used the Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT) software to model the noise contours and conducted on-site monitoring with digital sound level meters for 24 hours at each sampling point. Based on the results, we prepared the Noise Zoning Plans in accordance with legislation and the client’s requirements.

As a result, we updated the noise contours and developed Specific Noise Zoning Plans (PEZRs) for 13 airports and Basic Noise Zoning Plans (PBZRs) for 3 airports. We completed on-site monitoring and issued validation reports for all airports, recommending noise reduction measures where necessary. All 16 Noise Zoning Plans were approved and registered by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
